It isn't you (Families of Alcoholics)

Everyone blames themselves, we all do at one point or another. Even as a child I blamed my dad's drinking on me - I was bad, I was selfish, I did something wrong. Please understand it has nothing to do with you, no matter how much you were away as parent, no matter how disciplined or undisciplined you were, if you shouted, didn't shout, were rich, were poor, low education, Master's degree - none of that matters. Alcohol is not selective, it will grab anyone it can. Don't blame yourself. Make a profile and talk to people who care and know.
