Alcohol counselling

Murray’s Initiative offers confidential one-to-one counselling for people affected by their own drinking or someone else’s drinking. Qualified counsellors work with people on the harm alcohol is causing in their lives.

The alcohol counselling service is free for people who live or work in Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire or East Renfrewshire. Contact the team to check eligibility if you live elsewhere.

Appointments are available at its Glasgow office and community venues. Telephone or online counselling can be arranged for people unable to travel. Use the service’s online referral form or phone the team to ask how to begin.

Other support

Its wider services include recovery and employability support through Elevate, specialist support for women, men and LGBTQ+ people, and services for young people. Availability and referral arrangements depend on the service.

Some services have charges, including counselling for cocaine or cannabis use. Ask the team which service fits your circumstances and whether there is a cost.
