It began in Scotland, but now supports anyone affected by someone’s drinking.
This site was created to offer something that can be difficult to find — a calm, honest space for people affected by someone else’s drinking.
The name “Alcohol Scotland” reflects where it began. Because of the serious impact alcohol has had in Scotland — and because it is my homeland — I wanted to focus on supporting families facing something similar.
Over time, it became clear that these experiences are not limited to one place. Families, partners and friends everywhere face the same uncertainty, the same questions, and the same emotional impact when someone’s drinking starts to affect their lives.
Like many others, I struggled to understand how someone I loved could continue drinking, even when the consequences were so clear. That confusion, and the need for a safe place to make sense of it, is what this site is built around.
This site is not here to diagnose, instruct, or tell anyone what they should do. It exists to help people understand what they may be seeing, make sense of how they are feeling, and find a safe place to talk about it.
If you have found your way here, there is a good chance something does not feel quite right. You may not have clear answers yet, and you do not need to. This is a place where you can take your time, explore what is happening, and begin to find your own way forward.
