Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs (SFAD) is a national charity in Scotland that provides support to anyone affected by a loved one’s alcohol or drug use, including families of alcoholics.
SFAD operates a free and confidential helpline (08080 10 10 11, Monday to Friday, 9am to 11pm, with a call-back service on weekends) offering listening support, advice, and information. Family members can discuss their concerns, learn about alcohol use, and explore ways to cope. SFAD offers both one-to-one and group support in areas like Aberdeenshire, East Dunbartonshire, Fife, Forth Valley, and Inverclyde. SFAD provides specialized support for families bereaved due to alcohol-related issues, offering counseling and emotional support to help cope with loss.
